"2020 was a particularly challenging vintage across much of Australia, but Giant Steps were very lucky here in the Yarra Valley. It was a bit of a rollercoaster - with a cool, wet Spring, a dry December and then a mild February, punctuated by a few significant rain events... This all led to lower than average yields across their Pinot Noir blocks, primarily driven by tighter, smaller bunches – the consequence of which is naturally high acidity, great flavor and vibrant colors. Overall, tiny crops but amazing quality.

Like other wines in Giant Step's suite of Pinots, this vibrant, juicy red-fruited Pinot has both drink-now appeal and the ability to age. A bright cherry-juice color, it offers heady aromas of strawberry tart and cherry blossom, with earth spice and an umami mushroom nuance. A touch of vanillin oak shows but should dissipate with time. The midweight palate is mouthcoating while still being fresh and elegant, framed in fine, chalky tannins, with a savory, mineral core. Drink now through 2033.

Bright red. Vibrant, spice- and mineral-accented red currant, cherry and floral scents take on an exotic blood orange nuance with air. Taut and sharply focused on the palate, offering zesty red fruit, spicecake and succulent herbs flavors that slowly turn sweeter through the back half. Shows fine definition and strong, spicy thrust on a persistent finish framed by gentle, even tannins.
